Steel production plant Island Steel
Details
Island steel required a CCTV system to monitor their staff for Health & Safety and training purposes. This presented a very interesting challenge as part of their specification required the monitoring of the area under 4 of their gantry cranes.
On each crane we installed microwave data links designed to work on a continues moving horizontal plane, along with 360deg fish eye cameras.
The cameras are able to provide all around live and recorded images. Along with special de-warping software, these fish eye images can be viewed just as if they were a traditional cameras, giving the uses extensive coverage normally only afforded by a manually operated ptz camera.
Supplied by a local power supply on the crane , the wireless links enabled the images to be sent direct to the IT network without the need for any cabling. As part of this project over 30 cameras were installed to ensure all the production areas were covered.
